December 2008 Putting Tips

There are many different putting styles. If you play a lot of golf I'm sure you've seen fellow golfers setting up to putt in ways which you never thought possible, and this goes for great putter, good putters, and poor putters. Now, what separates the great putters from the good putters, and the good putters from the poor putters. There are great putters with their own unique style as we were just talking about, and there is are also poor putters that set up and look just like a pro and you wouldn't know, unless of course you played with them, that they are very poor at putting. So you ask, what is one of the main aspects of putting that separates the great putters from the poor ones, regardless of their style. The answer may surprise many of you, and I want you all to try this as this is the tip for the month of December.

How many times have you thought about the position of your eyes over the ball? Be honest, I bet a lot of you that have never had a proper putting lesson are probably thinking 'this guys crazy!' Well all I want you to do is go out to local putting green when you have time to practice and try different stances over the ball, after you have found a comfortable stance take a penny or a dime or quarter, whatever, and drop it from your eyes to the ground. If the penny misses the ball, or does not land within a centimeter circumference around the ball, your eyes are not positioned properly. So keep trying this until your eyes are over the ball and you will know this when the penny has been dropped and it hits the ball (or comes close to it) Once you have succeeded in doing this, start putting and you should see instant results just from being aware of the fact that your eyes are over the ball.

Thanks for stopping in and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
