Nationwide Tour Welcomes New Wave Of Players

A new wave of Nationwide Tour players have just obtained status for play during the 2009 season. After the 28 players that just successfully gained their PGA Tour Cards the remainder of the field from final stage will have some sort of status on the Nationwide Tour in 2009. After the 28 players who gained their PGA status, the next closest 50 players (including ties) will have fully-exempt status on the Nationwide Tour, all players there after will have conditional status ranked according to their finish at final stage.

It makes for a very exciting 2009 Nationwide Tour season as yet again there is a new wave of tour hopefuls looking at gaining entrance to the PGA Tour for 2010 season via a few ways you can obtain it from the Nationwide Tour: #1: Win the 'Battlefield Promotion' which is winning 3 events anytime in the season and you are automatically moved up. #2: Finishing in the top 25 on the order of merit on the Nationwide Tour at the end of the season and gaining promotion that way. Or, of course, #3: Monday Qualifying for a PGA Tour event and winning the tournament (very hard to achieve) and your on the PGA Tour for 2 years exempt.

So this makes for an interesting season on the Nationwide Tour as we watch and see who can get promoted to the BIG LEAGUE so to speak.

Good luck to all the players in the coming 2009 season.
