Putting Tips
Lesson #1:
Ok, how many golfers out there are struggling with their putting? Come on, put up your hands.
With this Monthly Putting Lesson page, you will be able to take the drills I describe to you here out to the putting green and you will see your skill level increase with just a little practice. These drills are simple, so follow along closely and take notes, and you'll be sinking more putts than you ever imagined.
Drill #1:
Find a flat spot on your practice green with one hole in that flat area. Take five golf balls (preferably the brand you always play) Starting out at a one foot distance from the hole, place each ball around the hole in a circle. So you should now have five balls surrounding the hole all one foot away from the hole. Now go ahead and sink all of those putts, one on top of each other. Once you have made all five of your one foot putts from around the hole place the balls in another circle around the hole, but this time place the balls 3 feet away from the hole, and again sink all 5 putts on top of each other. From 3 feet go to 5 feet, and from 5 feet go to 8 feet and so on. Now, here's the catch to this drill, if you miss one putt, even the second to last putt on the 10 footer, you must start the drill all over, of course back at the 1 foot range and then work farther away again. Once you can complete this drill from the 8 foot range on a consistent basis, I guarantee your scores will be lower and your handicap will drop.
Enjoy the drill, and remember, don't miss your tee time!
